Help Continue Their Impact
On November 10, 2025, our community received the heartbreaking news that our founder and president, Evangelist Alexander Wurm (53), and his daughter, Serena (22) passed away in a plane crash while transporting humanitarian aid to Jamaica. Their final moments reflected exactly how they lived, serving others with courage, compassion, and unwavering faith.
Alex travelled throughout the Caribbean and beyond, dedicating his life to sharing the gospel, strengthening local churches, and bringing hope to those in need. He was a man of deep prayer, humility, and extraordinary generosity. Whether as a husband, father, minister, counsellor, or friend, he carried a grace and wisdom that touched countless lives.
Serena shared her father’s heart. She was compassionate, thoughtful, and committed to helping others. She was already stepping into ministry and outreach, following the example she had witnessed at home every day. Their final mission together, delivering aid to those in need, was a true and powerful reflection of who they both were and the lives they lived.
Alex leaves behind his beloved wife, Candace, and their children, Christiana (20), and James (17), as well as a far-reaching community of friends, youth, church, and leaders, and families who were deeply impacted by his ministry.
In the wake of this loss, many in Cayman and beyond have reached out asking how they can help. In response, a dedicated fund has been established for Cayman-based donors who wish to give directly through local bank transfer to either a USD or KYD Cayman Islands account. Your contributions will go directly to the Wurm family and to continuing the ministry work that Alex faithfully led.
Ignite the Fire Ministry, founded by Alex, equips and mobilises young people across the Caribbean through missions, evangelism, and practical outreach. Supporting this work is one of the most meaningful ways to honour the legacy of both Alexander and Serena. Your generosity will help raise up the next generation of leaders who will serve their communities and carry the gospel with courage and compassion.
If you feel led to give, your donation will bless the family and help carry forward the work Alex and Serena devoted their lives to.
