For All Spiritual Leaders, Staff, and Team Members at Ignite the Fire Ignite
At Ignite, we are called to embody servant leadership, following Jesus’ example of coming “not to be served, but to serve” (Matthew 20:28). Ministry here is not about titles or authority; it’s about humbly caring for others, prioritizing their needs, and reflecting Christ-like character in every area of life.
Our accountability is first and foremost to God and His Word. This accountability is a shared responsibility that includes everyone who serves—pastors, staff, leaders, and team members alike.
This covenant unites us in a commitment to serve with integrity, compassion, and accountability as we work together to fulfill Ignite’s mission to share Christ’s Love and Life with our Society.
Ministry is not just a task—it is an expression of who we are in Christ.
1. Our Mission (Why We Exist) To share Christ’s Love and Life and Hope with our Society.
2. Our Vision (What We Value) To Experience God, Connect Together, Grow & Serve, and Impact Our World: This vision is founded on God’s Word through the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37-40) and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20), forming the foundation of Ignite. We commit to living these values as Messengers of Hope, sharing the love of Christ.
3. Our Culture (What We Do) • We share the Gospel, (the Message of Hope) believing that every Christ-follower is called to help others experience God’s love and grace. • We connect believers to the body of Christ, embracing them through love, care, and relationships. • We train and empower believers to win souls and make disciples, equipping them to grow in character and ministry.
At Ignite, a lifestyle of holiness is essential for everyone in ministry. Holiness means dedicating ourselves fully to God, aligning our personal lives with biblical standards, and avoiding anything contrary to His Word. Ignite’s expectations for a lifestyle of holiness are grounded in Scripture:
Ephesians 4:22-24 “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”
1. Personal Relationship with God Growing in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is foundational to a life of holiness. As we commit to spending time in prayer, studying God’s Word, and allowing the Holy Spirit to shape our character, we draw closer to God and align ourselves with His will.
2. Integrity and Honor in Relationships Honoring God requires honesty, respect, and integrity. This includes refraining from gossip, divisiveness, or dishonoring language toward pastors, team members, or any church member (Ephesians 4:29; 1 Thessalonians 5:11). Team members are also expected to address disagreements respectfully and directly, promoting unity and building up the body of Christ.
3. Sobriety and Self-Control We are called to live sober-minded lives, free from substances that impair judgment or harm our witness (Ephesians 5:18; 1 Peter 5:8). Ignite expects ministry members to abstain from illegal drugs, and those struggling with alcohol abuse are encouraged to seek support for recovery.
4. Sexual Purity Scripture clearly teaches that sexuality is designed by God to be expressed within the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4-6). Therefore, those serving in ministry are expected to refrain from sexual relationships outside of marriage, including cohabitation with a romantic partner (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5). We honor God’s standard that marriage is between one man and one woman, and any sexual relationships outside this biblical framework—including same-sex relationships—are considered outside Ignite’s standard of holiness (Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10).
5. Living a Life Above Reproach As children of God, we are called to live lives that reflect Christ, setting ourselves apart from worldly standards. Our conduct should visibly honor God, seeking first His kingdom and embodying a lifestyle that aligns with His Word. This means avoiding even the appearance of evil and choosing actions and environments that are above reproach.
As part of this standard, we refrain from visiting bars or clubs; single individuals avoid overnight trips with persons of the opposite sex; and married individuals are careful to avoid any compromising environments with someone of the opposite sex who is not their spouse. Through these choices, we honor God and uphold a witness that reflects our commitment to holiness.
